Sri Dalada Maligawa(Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic)🙏

 The Left Tooth Relic of the Supreme Buddha, the crown jewel of the world's most revered Jani people, resides in the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Sri Senkadagala, Kandy.

              During the reign of King Keerthi Sri Meghawarna, the Tooth Relic was brought to Sri Lanka from the kingdom of Hemamala and the Tooth Prince Kalinga.The Temple of the Tooth was first built by King Wimalavimalasuriya Dharma.1592 - 1604 due.During this period the Tooth Relic was brought to Senkadagala.

But history has it that the Sri Dalada Maligawa built by him was destroyed by the Portuguese.The present two storied palace was built by King Sri Parakrama Narendrasinghe.

 

According to history, the Sri Dalada Maligawa is currently on display by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe.Dalada Karawa for the Esala Perahera was during the reign of King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe.

 

   

It is our privilege to be a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.
